I need to pick a topic for a term paper in my History class. It is Middle Ages Europe, what would be good?

I would like something to write about that is possiby a big picture over the entire middle ages, maybe a theme or major change that occured throughout. Can somebody help me out with a thesis on this. There is so much to choose from and it needs to be 12 pages so it has to be a topic that that has alot going on. thanks so much in advance.

A good term paper asks, and attempts to answer a question. Keep this in mind when you choose your topic.

Here are some possible questions that deal with the topic of the practices of "courtly love" in the Middle Ages.

- Did courtly love really exist, or was it just a literary convention? In other words, did some men really dedicate their lives to worshipping unattainable women, or did they just write about it in literature and poetry?

- Was courtly love primarily sexual in nature, or primarily religious?

- What sort of men practiced courtly love? What sort of women were the objects of their affections? Was there a particular "type" of woman that courtly love idealized?

The plague ( The Black Death) is a good topic because it effected everyone, poor or rich. The Middle ages was a terrible time for disease. No sanitation, etc.
