Jamaican police have confirmed Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer was murdered, as post-mortem results showed he was strangled.

More than one person could have been involved in committing the murder, police said.

The official post mortem report revealed "Mr Woolmer's death was due to asphyxia as a result of manual strangulation".

After referring to Woolmer's death only as 'suspicious' for most of this week, Jamaica Police have now begun calling the case a murder investigation.

Woolmer's body was found in his hotel room on Sunday, March 18, less than a day after Pakistan's controversial loss to Ireland in the cricket World Cup.

im sure that the sport will be affected but only on a minute level compared to the overall view...cricket is a huge sport and is not only a sport for recreation, but part of a deep cultural background for many countries.....though this is a tragic loss Pakistan will hopefully will not be dealt with such horrible news as this and move on to realize that sports do not need to separate nations , but yet bring them together

So are you saying that Pakistan lost on purpose and an angry gambler took it out on the coach?

Or are you saying someone in the Pakistani team thought the coach lost the game for them so a British side would beat the Pakistanis?

Unless you mean eith of those, Pakistan's sporting teams will be uneffected.

The ICC should ban the Pakistan cricket team for an indefinite amount of time, as I do not think that they are worthy of playing. It was match fixing as the odds against Ireland were high.

They will have a real tough time recruiting decent coaches.

Pakistani cricket has been pretty sus lately eg players using banned drugs, matchfixing, ball tampering etc, it seems murder was inevitable!
