Hi! my name is Tom, and Im "an Old Man (50) so I'll help you the best I can---The "Northern Tribes" circa 1770-- the "Main Ones" were comprised of the "original 5 tribes of the "Iroquois Confederacy" -- Known by their name--"HAUDENAUSHONEE" which means "The Keepers of the Longhouse" which included the following "Tribes"--the "Keeper of The Eastern Door" was the "MOHAWK", located on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario in what was to become "Upstate New York"-- farther inland in a line extending basically "Northeast / Southwest" from New York, through Pennsylvania, to roughly the corners of where PA, WVA, and OHIO join-- you had the other Tribes of the "Confederacy"-- The "ONEIDA"-- Known as the "KEEPERS OF THE SACRED (COUNCIL) FIRE", The "ONONDAGA", The "CAYUGA" AND The "SENECA"-- known as the "KEEPERS OF THE WESTERN DOOR"---I know the"Mohawk" under "Chief Joseph Brant" were allied with the British, while I believe the "Cayuga" and "Oneida" were Allied with the Americans-- The "Seneca" at times were allied with the "SHAWNEE" AND "MINGO" Tribes out of OHIO--- you (depending on "how much time" you have left to complete this "report") might want to go to your Library and do a "title search" for this book-- its called--"THAT DARK AND BLOODY RIVER"--Sorry, I dont recall the author-- but I'm sure if you did a "TITLE SEARCH" you'd be able to find it--- now this book-- is about the size of a "BIG CITY PHONE BOOK"-- VERY THICK--and I doubt you would have time to read it in its entirety-- but its written primarily from "The Indians Point of View"--and even if you're in any way "into any of this"-- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!--- for instance--the "Original Name of "Washington. PA" was-- "CATFISH CAMP!!" because it was sometime during the French & Indian War-- 3 guys in a canoe speared this "GIANT Flathead catfish" which towed then up & down the river!!-- when the got it weighed-- it was " 86 POUNDS!!"-- they tell the story of "LEWIS WETZEL" who taught himself to "re-load a "Pennsylvania Long Rifle" (which has a 6 ft barrel!!) WHILE AT A "FULL RUN" THROUGH THE WOODS-- OVER LOGS, BLACKBERRY BUSHES , ETC"-- he killed 4 of the pursuing 5 Indians-- the last one "gave up" before he got shot -- and he told his "Chief"-- "White Man have gun that shoot more than once" which considering Whetzel reloaded each time turning around and "picking off one Indian at a time"-- and a "long rifle" is "single shot"-- where you have to "reload" it each time before each shot-- but to do that "at a full run-- through the woods-- and "pursued by "BloodthIrsty Savages"-- is "VIRTUELY IMPOSSIBLE"!!-- yet, "LEWIS WHETZEL" DID IN FACT DO THIS!!!---some other things you might want to look at-- "THE TREATY OF FT. STANWIX"--where this "treaty" basically ENDED THE "IROQUOIS CONFEDERACY"--Also you might want to look up "The Battle of Bushy Run" here in PA-- as a matter of fact-- i live about 8 miles from it!! Wish i could go there, but, sadly, im in a wheel chair now... Hope this helps... Tom
