My guess is that he is feeling inadequate in some aspect of his life, but you have helped show his worth, and give him confidence in some way. He appreciates you for being exactly how you are.

painting = regenerate, remodel, renovate, love, preaching, covering up sin. artist painting = words, illustrative message, eloquent, humerous, articulate. Sounds like he might like you???
