I'm thinking of applying at places at my outlet mall such as Aeropostale and Gap, but I guess I'm a bit nervous about it all. What are the odds of them accepting a 17 year old with no experience? Will I have to do a fancy interview to get the job? What kind of pay can I be expecting to get? I know the answers to these questions probably depend a lot on the manager/supervisor themself, and can't really be answered here, but any input as to what to expect would be greatly appreciated! :)

If you present yourself reasonably well (dress neatly, speak clearly and intelligently, and sound interested in working) you have a real good change to get hired at a mall. You'd probably start at minimum wage or slightly better.

Don't be nervous. Look the interviewer in the eye, shake his or her hand and introduce yourself at the beginning of the interview, smile, and respond to their questions.

I agree with everything the first responder said as well. Also, places like Aeropostale are great places for teens to work. Their store is geared towards teens/young adults. If you can show that your responsible, professional, and trendy you should have a good chance of getting that job. Have you done anything in high school, volunteered? Yes, you do not have work experience but you can put on your application that you have done something with leadership or have "worked" in some sort of way. This is an Aeropostale/Gap store, not their corporate office. Pay wise, don't expect nothing over $2 or so over minimum wage, if that. Good luck.
