Lately it's been a thought thats been pondering in my mind. On mtv and radio 1 (westwood for example), people label acts like 50 cent and eminem as hiphop, daily. gang violence, filthy behaviour and bling culture is now associated with the term hiphop, however it is a culture that is wrongly percieved. how many people actually know true hiphop? hiphop is a beautiful culture with a thriving underground of artists who speak freely about the beauty and troubles of life. rarely have i heard a true hiphop artist speak of gangs and females in a bad way. mtv dosn't play true hiphop cos it dosnt sell. if it dosn't have a big bassline and some repetitive drum loops, it dosnt qualify as hiphop. how many people actually do recognise hiphop culture for what it is? Does louis logic, mf doom, viktor vaughn and the roots just sound like a b-movie casting? it's just strikes me as to whether people really do buy this gangster bling ****

True hip-hop can't be discriminated against. Few rappers on the radio can represent the true core of hip-hop. You know, I think Linken Park is more hip-hop than most "hip-hop" artists on the radio. They further proved my assumptions with Fort Minor. A lot of rappers forget the elements of hip-hop, and only focus on the MC, ignoring the graffiti artist, the DJ, and the breakdancers (or actually replacing them with pop dancers).

Most of these rappers have actually changed what hip-hop represents. It now appears to be about the MC, the bling-bling, the producer, and the crunk dancers. They should be classified in a completely different genre.

PREACH!
-Networks like MTV and BET only play mainstream South Get Crunk Music. People Consider HIp-hop as "Ghetto" because of what they see in the videos...Ho's, Drug dealing, etc. The rappers on these stations do not rap their own lyrics, but the lyrics their recording companies write for them. It's all about the Money..and unfortunantly hip-hop wannabe's fall into the money making schemes of these music producers. People need to Open their minds and Listen to the Tru meanings of REAL hip-hop.

AMEN!! To me a new title for many types of music now-a-days needs to be notarized or something. If you know the true meaning of hip-hop, you know now-a-days it's hard to find. To me both skills and adulthood in the rap and hip-hop world is very low. It's just hard to find dog; just hard to find.
