Some people seem to think he sucks at the game of basketball. There must be a rationale reason for this view, and, I must admit, that reason escapes me. He scored 81 points in a game, had a big hand in 3 NBA title runs, and is currently averaging 30.0ppg, 5.6 apg, and 5.5 rpg for the season. Help me out. Can a player like this accurately be called a bad basketball player and, if so, why?

JDWJ 767 - You haven't answered the question. Your answer sought to explain why Kobe is not a great player, but that's not the question. The question is how is he a bad player. Why does he "suck" in other words. Sucking and not being great are, potentially, worlds apart. Please try again because I really want you to prove this point.
By the way, by your own criteria of greatness not only is Kobe not a great player, but neither is Shaq. You said a player who has been in the league for 11 years must accomplish at least half of the things you listed if he is to be legitimately called great. Kobe has not done this...., but neither has Shaq. Shaq's still a great player isn't he.

I actually was talkin about this da other day. The guy said "Shaq can do without Kobe but Kobe cant do without Shaq". But he scored 81 points without Shaq. The only reason people say this kind of stuff is because he ain't won a championship since Shaq left. Also, people bring up the famous "Kobe is a ballhog" line. I think he is the best all-around player in the league. But look at it this way, if the people who said Kobe sucks were team managers in the NBA and Kobe was a free agent and they had the cap room to get him, tell me they wouldn't get him.

i don't think kobe is a bad player, he's one of the greatest player ever play the game. Without Kobe in those 3 years, no way Shaq would get those trophies. JD is just a haterrrrr. kobe is the best player right now

not a bad player.. a bad person. 1. he snitched on oneil and malone 2. he's selfish and broke up the best team ever 3. he only hits white boys in the face 4. he cheated on his wife many times (get online and check out the police statement)
anyone else notice how he was good clean kobe until he charged w/ rape and then all of the sudden it was "thug" kobe with tattoos and bling. what a loser with identity crisis. kobe aint got no street cred. that's why rappers like nas make fun of him in their songs

I'm with you man...all these ppls writing crap bout' kobe is cuz they just jealous! and one of the guys who signed (jdwj767) said nothing about kobe bryant being nba all-star mvp or in 1997 he won the dunking competition. Man don't believe these ppls there just haters, but some how it gets worse and worse and then some how he gets motivated and starts playing WAY better in 07. 06 was a bad year for kobe but the guy pullled up his socks,scored 81! this guy is so good, he skipped NCAA so why would ppl write 0 ncaa titles?and yes im talking to u jdwj767! i bet ur won of those steve nash fans...nowonder ur hating so much! just ignore these guys space boy

ok i would love to!!!!.....he only cares about his image and his stats!!!...there is no need for 1 player on the team to score 65 points 55 points 80 POINTS!! that is just a ball hog! He is trying to FORCE himself into "GREATNESS" if he was a good team player he wouldnt want the Lakers to be 'HIS TEAM" it would be the teams team!! And can you answer this...WHY DID HE DRIVE AWAY A LEGENDARY CENTER FROM "HIS TEAM!!??" he basically said "if shaw is here i am gone!" there is many more reasons why he is a bad player if you want me to tell you EMAIL me!! man i am right there with you there are like a million people in my school who say that he sucks but he dropped like 51 points the other night!! i think that most people just dont want to except the fact that he is one of the best players in the history of the nba
