Its the second largest reserve of oil in the world. They took advantage of a situation in Iraq at the time, before sanctions got lifted and the rest of the world had business opportunities there.

Its the old adage of "Power and the preservation of power at all costs"

Hopefully the next president can undo some of the harm this president's administration has caused internationally.

The people who defend him are simply those types of people who aren't interested in a principle, only on a side, their side, our side, and can't bring themselves to look in the mirror and realize that we aren't always the good guys.
If China or Russia did the EXACT same things we have done, those same defenders would be (rightly) up in arms.

About the IRAQI war : from one hand -all of us complain about our leaders...and this unjustified war....now in the other hand what we the so called free citizens done to press the Dictators- not to be so greedy and abusive against their own people and the free world...and try to skyrocket the Oil prices, bringing the economies of the free world close to a disaster...and what we done ourselves to cut down the energy consumption in all faces, activities, and types of products we use, what we done to control prices? I have the answer: simply we done nothing....How our leaders can do a good job...if we blame everybody else except ourselves- The answer of the problem is cut down energy consuption , and switch the present energy to cheaper means of energy.
