Not only is it ethical, it's RIGHT.
For those who have a problem with it, cloning IS an answer. Also, thousands of fetuses are discarded every day, some for abortion, and some for miscarriage. Why not put those fetuses to use? Then their lives, no matter how short, wouldn't have been useless.

Also, for those against cloning, remember: God made Eve by taking the rib of Adam. How is that not cloning?

Morals is a religious matter. Ethics depend on the specific rules of the organization or profession.

Embryonic stem cell research does not violate the code of ethics for the AMA or any other national medical association, nor does it violate the ethical rules for most scientific organizations.

Well, for starters "ethical" is different from "moral." I am a science major. I don't see anything ethically wrong with it. Where one stands on the moral issue depends on the person. I am not sure how I personally feel about it. I don't think I should stop the research if I have a moral problem with it though. Then I should just not participate.

Harvesting something that is going to be destroyed ANYWAY, why not put it to good use? I'm dying of a blood diease, and stem cell research may save me, but W said " no-no-NO" Thanks W....

This is going to be an on-going debate for years to come, much like the abortion issue. And, I guess, they go hand in hand.
