WOW, Now that's one of the strangest things I've ever herd of. I would defiantly ask your husband in a suttle way what was going on then try to do a little digging in to his past with his childhood first. Then work your way up to the present. This sounds very strange but maybe it could of been only his mom not your husband. Good luck

I remember coming home from Vietnam in 1973 after sweeping mines from Haiphong Harbor, I was in Hawaii before that and gone a total of three years before my mom saw me again. I was only 22 or so when I got back.
My mom had six kids and she was one of these moms who was just "tickled pink" every time one of her kids would come around. Let me tell you, after 3 years, and one year in a war zone, she hardly quit hugging me the whole time I was on leave. I loved it, and she loved it. She died when she was only 56 and I am glad I could be her little boy no matter how old I was.
I don't know what is going on here, but please give the mom a little breathing room with her boy. I am glad I did.

I think some moms wish they could be the ones married to their precious son. My sis's mom-in-law acts like she wanted to marry him instead. If they all go out to eat, she'll literally push my sis out of the way so she can sit next to her son. She totally ignores her husband. once when she made them dinner there was about a glass of tea left. My sis, her father-in-law, and my sis's hubby all had empty glasses. Her mom-in-law poured all of the tea into her son's glass. Didn't even split it with her own husband.
She even tried to tag along on their honeymoon.
Some moms just can't let go. They not only love their sons, they are In love with them. (but not in a creepy sex way)

What trailer park did you say this was at? Sorry all for the sterotype, I dont think I would be at all comfortable with my mother on my lap like that. maybe they are just a real close family. The hair is standing up on my neck.... um a loss for words.

Actually I think this was probably something that your husband and his mom did while he was growing up. Probably once he was too big to sit on mom's lap it just turned into her sitting on his. I think your hubby's mom was just loving her son and that you should not over think it.

Seems inappropriate to me, but then I have seen similar goings-on in other families as well. Some families like to get physical like that but apparently there is nothing weird going on in their minds. You'll just have to adjust, that is if he's perfectly happy with it...no harm done.

How about this:
You visit your parents. Your husband sees you talking with your mother, sitting on her lap. What would his reaction be?
I think you're overreacting a slight bit. It's natural for a guy to want affection and love from his mother. Try showing a little bit of extra love next time you see him.
Of course, you don't have to listen to me....

Well, my Mom didn't sit on my lap, but then Mom weighted nearly 300lbs. Yes, it does seem odd. But, unless this is an onging, frequent thing, try to chalk it up to just innocent silly behavior. Unless, by shorts, you meant underwear, in which case- run!

It does seem odd, but not necessarily in appropriate.
Maybe they have always been close. You could ask him if his mom was very affectionate to him growing up and kind of open up the conversation. If it seems like no big deal to him, then I'd let it go. You don't want to come between your husband and his mom because it will only get ugly.

ooooooooooooooooookkkkaaayy that's intrestingly weird. The first thing i would've done in that position would be to make sure Santa ain't at the north pole. And defiantly confront him about his relationship with his old girl. How you go about that i hope i never have to find out.
so sad i wish you the best.
