Swing is a style of music that utilizes syncopated rhythms - big band is literally talking about a certain type of band that played predominantly swing, but also other kinds of music.

Some swing music did come out during the Big Band era...and is Big band. But, there is also swing music that came out long before and after Big Band. Also....there is Big Band music that isn't swing.

It's like asking if Standards is the same as Easy Listening.

according to wikipedia:

Swing music, also known as swing jazz, is a form of jazz music that developed during the 1920s and had solidified as a distinctive style by 1935 in the United States. Swing is distinguished primarily by a strong rhythm section, usually including double bass and drums, medium to fast tempo, and the distinctive swing time rhythm that is common to many forms of jazz.

A big band is a type of musical ensemble associated with playing jazz music and which became popular during the Swing Era from 1935 until the late 1940s. A big band typically consists of approximately 12 to 19 musicians and contains saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and a rhythm section. The terms jazz band, jazz ensemble, stage band, jazz orchestra, and dance band are also used to refer to this type of ensemble.
In contrast to smaller jazz combos, in which most of the music is improvised, or created spontaneously, music played by big bands is highly "arranged", or prepared in advance and notated on sheet music. Improvised solos may be played only when called for by the arranger.

Close but not exactly. Big Band is older & like Benny Goodman stuff. Swing has a bit more of a rock n roll edge to it.
