You can't stop them, there is no cure.
I know it looks distressing, but it isn't. It is completely normal and it is something to do with them developing properly.

My daughter was the same. She grew out of it!

My son got them through my entire last trimester too! There's no way to prevent them; they are common because their diaphragms are not yet mature. I always gave my son diluted apple juice, because he loves it and would gulp some down quickly, which always made the hiccups go away. You can also try gently blowing in his face. This usually makes them inhale quickly, getting rid of the hiccups. I preferred the drinking method though. He quit getting them around 6 months finally!

I know what you are going through. They seem to get hiccups every time you turn around. There really isn't anything you can go to prevent hiccups, but there is a way to get rid of them. I would give my kids gripe water, you can get it in any drug store and it is alcohol free. Depending on what brand you get there are different flavors, black licorice and dill. Gripe water also helps for upset stomach and gas. It was a life saver. Good luck and congrats on the new addition.

Not much you can do to prevent them other than trying to prevent him from eating too quickly, which may or may not help. This is a very common thing with newborns. The good news is that hiccups won't hurt him and he will outgrow them when he gets a little bigger.

Hiccups are very, very common at this age as well as sneezing. I asked my sons doctor about this and he said it is normal from their digestive track adjusting to the outside world. I know getting the child to burp can help but it never failed my son would burp and get the hiccups anyway. Besides isn't it kind of cute?

My daughter is 4 weeks old and she constantly has the hiccups. Ive tried everything but what works best is patting her on the back or putting her on her tummy. she gets mad when she has hiccups.

Your son is very normal, don't worry about it! I know, it looks like it hurts, but they don't. Little babies can get the hiccups up to 5 times a day! There is nothing you can do to prevent them that I know of. I just give my son a drink from his bottle and they usually subside. Congrats on the little one:)

This is normal, when he gets them try laying him on his belly and rubbing his back in an upward position. This will cause him to burp and sometimes will take the hiccups away. Im not really sure how you would prevent them as this is normal

Congrats on your new bundle of joy! My daughter had hiccups all through my pregnancy and even now she gets them, she is four months. They dont hurt them,my doc actually said its healthy to hiccup . I gave my baby 5 to 10 mills of cold boiled water first and if it got to the point where it kept her awake i would give her two mills of CORAMS gripe water as this is alcohol free.Other than that just let him ride it out

You can't stop him from getting hiccups, unless it is caused by getting to much air when feeding. If bottle feeding, use bottles with liners so you can eliminate most of the air, if breast feeding, they make a adapter to help the baby suckle. Once he has the hiccups, I have found that giving them a bottle with 2 oz. of water to 1/2 tsp. sugar helps to lessen how long he keeps them.
