Although this is not similar to what you suggested, Gone With the Wind definately fits your description of "life, struggles, and sadness". It is such a stirring movie and is sure to leave you silenced after viewing. :)

You have good movie taste! Some movies I love are May, American Beauty, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Virgin Suicides, Run Lola Run, Amelie, Donnie Darko, Adptation, I heart Huckabee's, Science of Sleep, The Fountain, and Closer. They are all really good.

Garden State, The Last Kiss, Closer, Mona Lisa Smile, Life Is Beautiful(Italian), Babel, Crash And if you even want some books that can give you same the effect, try reading the book Just Listen, by Sarah Dessen. I just finished reading this book, and I think it is definately one of my favorite books. A book has never had so much impact on me. Acutally, all of Sarah Dessen's books will do that. So, yah....Hope this helped you

Try the movie Where the Heart Is... it is a wonderful movie. It is about a young girl who lives in Wal-Mart (she's pregnant) and the father/boyfriend leaves her. I love the movie. I think it would be somewhat simliar to those you mentioned. It is an old release so renting it wouldn't be that expensive. You might be able to google it and read more about it.

Though I haven't -seen- it personally, I have heard that the Pursuit of Happyness is rather close to that description. I'd check it out! Awakenings is also good. Its more aboout struggle in a different way, but its a brilliant movie if you hadn't seen it.

Well, one movie that I thought was sad was ummmm... oh yeah... Freedom Writers, but had a touching end, if you like those movies. I sometimes feel in a sad movie mood too so, that's just an idea... :) Happy viewing...
