ok, some of you seem to have taken this the wrong way, firstly I do have kids three of them, my sister and I have a fantastic relationship where we are open and honest with each other, I was not so fond of her first childs name but did not say anything, but my sis is different i love her deeply and would never want to upset her and i have told her i do not like the names and she said well help me then... so that is what i am doing. Thankyou all those who gave names, everyone else unless you know the whole story why be so nasty???

i am sorry, you are right i would have felt awful if anyone had done this with mine and it is true kids will get picked on no matter what, its a bit of a joke really when my mum was pregnant with my sis she was going to call matthew quentin, ok my mum is absolute mad on tommy steele and we have been brought up on his films my sisters favourite is finnians rainbow, so she wants to call if a boy finnian quentin, and you know after reading some name on this site its not that bad, i apologise to all who i have offended and will take your advice and be a supportive aunty. thanks.

Just have a word with her and say something on the lines of
"do you want him/her to hate you for the rest of his/her life!"

People just don't understand when naming their kids, that they are the ones that have to live with it!

Buy her a baby name book or summit!
I know a few awful names, and glad my boys are happy with their ones, the 3 yr old, well she will soon tell me.
I blame famous people myself, they have started this trend!
if you are in the limelight, you get away with it, but us normal people will not!

If your sister is geniunely happy with the name she has picked out be happy for her. It is her gift to her child and just because you don't like it doesn't mean that the baby won't. The child will be picked on no matter what, because that is what children do. On the other hand, some children, myself included were given a truly funky name and wouldn't trade it for the world. If the child really hates it they can cheange it when they are of age or they can go by their middle name.
Besides whatever she picked can't be tougher than "Merafaynea Malificent Jensen"!! :)

Honestly, it's none of your business what your sister decides to name her child. Your only job is to be supportive of her. You can nickname the kid whatever you want, but until you have your own, keep your mouth shut about what people want to name their kids. Did she ask your advice? If not, she, like every other pregnant woman out there, is probably not looking for other people's opinions on the name.

Deal with it, smile, and tell her what a nice baby it is.

Can you please tell us the name, so we'll have an idea of her taste? There is no need to give suggestions if she has a specific theme in mind. And the other people have a point, it is her kid and she SHOULD be able to name it what she wants. Although I understand you are looking out for the best interest of the child.

hi when we were expecting our daughter i badly wanted to call her Maddison and we did agree on this however when she was born it was so clear the name did not suit her, if she was a boy we would have called her Joshua but in the end we called our daughter Grayce,we chose this spelling as we call her Gracie but when she is older she can be called Grace if she prefers it,

please try and support your sister as the more we were told by people they didnt like the name maddison the more we seemed to like is lol yet it wasnt to be and your sister may do the same once she see's her baby
