Sounds a little insecure, if you really like tennis you should be glad that your best friend might be there with you. Why do you want to go out for it? If you genuinely like tennis you should have no problem getting on the team and if you don't make it and your bf does you can practice with her and you'll get better for next year. You could even practice with her now (or her mom), relax about it though, jealousy isn't fun.

well uh - you should understand that there are a lot of parents out there who want to control their children and want their children to succeed and go the extra mile. If your friend is only doing it for her mother than don't be mad at her. now if your friend is doing it to show you up - then that is another story. But it sounds to me like you may be a bit jealous. Which you have every right to be. This is the one thing you declare as your own interest and talent and love for. BUT you should first find out the reason why your friend is trying out. Then go from there. Don't call her names and throw a temper tantrum. But tell her nicely the way you feel.

Well...nothin really. You have a passion for tennis and she doesn't care. She's one more girl for you to compete with and she's really not serious, and thus, it's totally wack. Why is she there, if she's not serious; it's not cool. But, she has a right to go out for the team. So work hard and make sure you make it with or without her. That way you won't feel stripped of your dreams/passion. So, you won't be so disappointed. Good Luck. Practice, Practice, Practice

Yup. You're jealous. If she doesn't even like tennis, then she won't truly succeed. The problem is, you feel threatened by her for some reason. Is that how a friend should feel?
Soul searching on your part is probably a good idea.

I had the same problem last year when i wanted to try out for volleyball, but you just have to remember that that is your friend and you should support each other.Try out and if one of you make it and the other dose not , just say congratulations and be happy for your friend even something as important as trying out for a sports shouldn't be enough to ruin a relation ship with a friend.

Think you just want to go out for tennis and realize that your friend isn't (or say's she isn't) really interested. Just play to win, no matter who's involved, like you would with a sibling. Your reaction is only normal.

Hun, first your friend needs to tell her mom that she doesn't like tennis & that she dosen't want to play if that's how she fells. But if she dose want to play & if she dose make it tell her how proud you are of her,(it aint worth loosing your friendship over). As for you, when you go out on that court you give it your all!!! Good luck & do your best!!

Listen, jealousy is the green eyed monster and never does anyone any good. You should want the best for your friend and you should be happy for her if she makes it. You need to work on your self esteem and be your own person and be proud of who you are. Its ok to be disappointed in people, just work hard to refrain from being jealous.

its not exactly jealousy, but instead your natural instinct of competition and fear kicking in - don't be pessimistic - tennis is a sport where you will face many compeititors - you win some you lose some - don't let a sport get between your friendship
