What are the two parts to a comets head and what do the comet's two tails look like? Also can someone please describe their path around the sun?

Those comets that return to the inner solar system (..not all comets ever enter the inner solar system..) follow extremely elliptical orbits around the sun. (..an ellipse is oval shaped..)

While the above answer is first rate (as usual) he failed to mention that the comet's tail does not trail out behind it, as many people mistakenly believe, but is blown out by the sun in a straight line away from the sun no matter where the comet is in its orbit. This only happens during the brief time that the comet is close enough to the sun to be sufficiently warmed by it.... the tail dissipates once the comet heads back into the icy reaches of deep space.
