I don't think he quit. I think he decided to move on to another opportunity because there was so much pressure and criticism at UK. He was a good coach and led UK to 10 Ncaa tourney's and a national championship, still there were people who didn't want him there. I think it was best in Tubby's best interest to leave, however, he will never have the kind of success at Minnesota as he did at UK.

I think it was the best thing for both his and UK's situation. Being a Kentucky fan, I personally didn't want to see him go. But there were alot of fans and big money boosters that wanted him gone. And it was pretty obvious they were going to give him another year to revamp his staff before they actually "fired" him. So I was glad that he was able to leave, without being "fired" (even though I'm sure they weren't throwing themselves at his feet to stop him). It was good that he was able to save some face because he's undoubtedly one of the most dignified guys to ever hold the Kentucky position. And now he gets to go somewhere, where he'll be successful because he's an awesome coach, but at the same time he won't have to deal with the ridiculous pressure Kentucky fans and boosters put on him. At the same time, the fans and boosters that wanted him gone got what they wanted without having to pay the $4 million plus to buy out his contract. I just hope that they can find someone just as good to come in and take over. It'll be tough.
All in all I wish him the best of luck, because he deserves nothing less then that.

I was not suprised but I personally thought he did a good job at UK. His record was 241-71 at UK. He won a NCAA Championship his first year in 1998. However, many of the players were Rick Pitino's (Louisville Coach) recruits. Anyway, I think Kentucky made the wrong decesion and I believe Tubby just got fed up and left for Minnesota. I wish him the best at the University of Minnesota.

I don't blame him. Kentucky didn't know a good thing when they had it and did nothing but bellyache every year. No one can win it all every year. The Kentucky fans expectation were too high and I believe Kentucky basketball will suffer from this. He is a very good coach and will do well where ever he is at. He may not have been perfect, but overall he is a very good coach.

yeah suitable, he's one in all of the final coaches. that's the Kentucky gamers that are taking part in very poorly suitable now. end asserting that tubby might desire to be fired, and attempt to advance the gamers. If Kentucky could make the three ball, they could be unstoppable. verify out his usual checklist with Kentucky................. 241-seventy one (.772)

I think he felt too much personal pressure and felt it was time to move on for his own emotional health.
