Sheesh, I take exception to Danielle's comment that all the areas around the U of A are trashy. Did she never get out of the West University neighborhood? That's where all the transients hang out. Sam Hughes, on the east side of campus has homes worth over $half million and it's not trashy at all. Rather upscale, in fact. North of campus are typical middle class neighborhoods. No, they aren't uniform suburbs of cookie-cutter houses...but they are well kept up. Southside isn't quite as nice, but it's better than it used to be. Frankly, Danielle sounds like a snob...which, unfortunately, is not atypical for the student body at the U of A. (I work there.)
That said, the U of A has an excellent College of Pharmacy, along with it's entire medical school.

Yes Yes Yes Go. The University Arizona is a wonderful school both academically and socially. I should know, I am an alumni. I graduated in 2000. It is an awesome school all around however the areas around campus are really trashy. But most great schools are in crappy areas.

Since ASU doesn't offer med/dental/pharmacology, UofA is your best bet for a state school. There is a private pharm school in Glendale that is highly regarded. If you're from out of state and it doesn't matter about in-state tuition, though, I would apply to Purdue (IN) as the first choice for pharm school.

My dad went there. It is a better school for Med/dental than ASU I believe. Very affordable.
