Whether its like a friend, a therapist, or a freak show depends on which "channel" you spend time in the most. Some sections, I've noticed, are quite educational and informative. Some sections are great places to encourage and help others. And two sections, in particular, are a hoot... you'll find more negativity, racism, and wild questions in the religion section and the culture section than any place else. I'm surprise the folks at Y!A haven't stepped in to keep the peace.

Well, a good therapist is part freak and part friend. A good friend is part therapist and part freak. And a good freak can be part therapist and part friend...so it seems what we have here is a rather unholy trinity. 3 in 1 for all your boredom needs.
Yahoo is my email, my home page, and as such, the most familiar place for me to start when I get online. I search with Google. I make friends on various message boards and myspace. I laugh at YouTube. And I play games at Big Fish.
Yahoo answers is really fun and useful (and yes addictive) because it is a chance to help other people, have a good laugh, and get real answers to specific questions by mostly friendly people. I just wish I didn't have to muck through so much bullshit to do it.
Haters and jackoffs and smartasses, oh my!

Well, you just said it all. I say it is all three. I have been away for a while, just busy and not needing to spend long periods of time at the computer. It is frustrating to see so many freak show types wasting everyones time, but there is also a lot of good stuff on this site. There is great and helpful information. There is also some therapy stuff happening, but you really have to sift through the freak show to find the good stuff. Too bad it all has to be mixed up together!

Yahoo is a place that my friends and I meet to blog on 360. It is the place that I have my email accounts. I do not use the chats because there are too many vulger, annoying people interested in basically one thing that I'm not...and we know what that is.
I also have a business account under another yahoo ID, so yahoo is a for friends, business, research, and sometimes therapy too. I don't do the freak show bit.

It is a past time for me. I do it to past time when I'm bored. I like to ask all kinds of questions. I ask whatever is on my mind. I guess you could say I use it as a friend and therapist. I know for sure some of the ppl on here have to think of this as a freak show or something, cuz there are some off the wall questions on here.

Mostly a freak show. When I see some of the answers people post, particularly in the political forums, it makes me really afraid for the future of humanity. That said, if someone is posting questions on here for the sake of therapy, remember that you're getting therapy from a lot of freaks. I'm not sure that qualifies as legitimate therapy.

It is the freak show humanity and needs friendship, therapy and someone to occasionally slap back.

I'd say yahoo, at least the answers part of it is like a friend who works in a carnival, one who is funny, entertaining, and potentially dangerous. He/she has charisma, guile, but also poor grammar and tourettes syndrome.
Seriously though, I use this site primarily for my own entertainment. I will occasionally ask serious questions, but that is a rarity.

I enjoy offering my advice which mostly comes from my life experiences. I also have my B.S. in Counseling Psychology. I learn a lot here too. That's fun for me (learning). I think the people who get on here and say mean and nasty things are the type of people who would NEVER say those things to whomever's face.
