It really depens i guess if you can control yourself, ever seen the video of a kid going nuts about getting beat in a halo 2 game? For him, it could promote violence.

No, no, and no. This idea in your head was brought on by the over reacting media. it's a proven fact video games, influence your thought process, but what doesn't these days?. I mean, look at "300", that movie is more gory, violent, and bloody then most shooters. today in gaming. Also, tv has the same amount of: 1. Violence 2. cussing 3. skin, as any video game. And really, it's based on how mature of a person you are. I played M-rated shooters at age 6, and i am one of the most nicest people at my school. That' s because, i was mature, and knew it was just a video game. It made me a little violent (in the terms of playing with a toy wepon back then) but that's all really. So, it only boils down to 2 things: How mature you are, and how you already are ajusted to tv and movies.

It could technically promote it. If the person was unable to determine that its just a video game in which case they really shouldn't be playing them anyways. And in most cases means they're too young and the parents should be doing their job anyways.
But in all honesty. Is it any worse then other media influences? Movies are violent, vulgar language and show things people could go without seeing. Doesn't that promote it? And there's riots after football games and such where people throw stuff at each other, fight, tip over cars, start fires, ect. Thats not a very good influence there.

yes, they do promote violence because when i play i just want to
KILL EVERYONE!!!!!
also i want to try to do it not in a videogame but in real life and well yell out GTA!!!!

i play all types of games, love the shooters. i have no feelings of violence; exept for those days i want to just KILL EVERY ONE!!!
apart from those days, im just dandy!
