Move UP in the box, not back. Most idiot coaches tell u to stand back. But why? To allow the ball to break by the time it gets to you lol. Stand up in the box, choke up or use a light bat, focus on just the location where the pitcher will release the ball dont watch his leg kick or look at his hat or anything like that, only that spot where his arm will be when he releases the pitch. Try to pick up spin on the ball. Also, be patient. I couldnt hit a curveball at all so anytime i saw one coming I laid off unless there were 2 strikes or a hit and run was on or something like that. Basically i waited for fastball and thats what i hit, I took 90% of curves even if I knew they were strikes. Also, find ur hitting plane and angle. If ur a power hitter swing slightly up, if an average hitter swing level, if fast baserunner swing for line drives and ground balls. Look at the pros, not every batter swings as hard as he could and tries to hit fly balls to their pull field. maybe with ur size and natural swing you would be better off trying hitting the ball to your opposite field. Keep your weight back and cut down on ur stride. A lot of kids wanna be like a power hitter and have this giant knee kick and stride and they get all off balance. Tell ur coach to mix it up in BP, throw to different locations, different speeds, and throw curves as well. So up in the box, light bat, weight back, small stride, and hit to where ur swing wants to hit the ball. As for drills use a tee and soft toss, hit faster pitching this will improve ur reaction time and teach u 2 recognize pitch type and location better, but remember to keep good mechanics when hitting the faster pitching, in a batting cage or whatever. Just step early on purpose and get used 2 the feeling of striding out there too early but having to keep ur weight back and stuff u know. This way ull be better off when that happens in a game. Just some tips some catchers dont guard their signals so u can look back and see what hes calling for, but if u get caught the next pitch will be at ur head lol so be careful. Also if the coaches call the pitches from the sideline try 2 watch and pick up on them when ur not at bat. Look for tips the pitcher is giving. Some pitchers only dig in their glove when gripping a curve, some pitchers noticabley arch their back when throwing a curve, with a runner on some kids will only use the slidestep when throwing a curve so as not to give the potential base stealer too much time. Also think about the situation most often kids dont have great control of their curve or offspeed pitch so when the count is 2-0 2-1 or 3-1 u r most likely getting a fastball. have one of ur teammates tip u off as to which direction the catcher shifted. Work out a code, maybe first name means inside and last name means outside....most inside pitches will be fastballs. Do stuff like this as well as some of the drills I mentioned earlier. Hope Ive helped. Good Luck

Baseball conditioning drill is all about simple quickness, pushing away with quick feet, pushing the hips, keep the core solid. Stay on the front part of the foot.

for batting; throw the ball directly up, then swing. keep doing that to practice your hitting. for pitching; you can just keep throwing underhand, or overhand. (whichever you do.. because i'm in softball and we do underhand.) Pop flies, throw them as high as you can, and just run as fast as you can and catch it. (These are all if you're doing it by yourself....)
