First of all Congratulations! Smoking is a hard thing to quit and you need to reward yourself! Drink lots of water to flush out your system. Buy some suckers or get some carrot sticks and whenever you feel the urge suck on one. Keep you hands busy too, crochet, knit, play cards, get a stress ball ect... that is the hardest part! (habit).
Good Luck and don't give up!

First , congrats, you have come sooooooooooo far, plz dont give up.
In the mean time STOP doing all the things you normally do with a cigarette in your hand ( for instance drive, the computer, on the phone) Do something new youve been putting off, a new hobby, long slow walks, also , I learned the neatest trick. When the cravings are bad, cut a soda straw in half- and use it as a substitute cigarette. Its the same size and shape, and you can puff on it. Keeping your hands busy, and the slow deep breathing helps by fooling you into some of the same feelings you would normally get from a cigarette. You deserve to be very proud of yourself. Congrats !!! and Good luck!

Have you guys considered Nicotine Anonymous? Nicotine is an anti-anxiety drug. When you withdraw from it, as you and your husband are doing, there is a rebound of unpleasant feelings (like an underlying buzz of fear and anger) that make you want to smoke. The feelings tell you that the unpleasantness will last forever, but it won't. There is a beginning, middle and end to the "badness" that makes you want to smoke. Try a couple of meetings where you can talk about them with others who are going through the same thing. You'll meet people who have quit successfully and it will give you hope. Hang in there. It's a day at a time.

I recently quit this past December 1st. I would not recomend cold turkey without help. Personally I used the nicotine patch and after paying that much money for patches I was determined not to waste my money. The first two weeks were the hardest. and I found that chewing gum helped keep my mouth busy alot. Think about how much better your skin smells and how much whiter your teeth can be and about how much you will save in the long run not smoking. I have found I can climb stairs now without getting out of breath which makes me smile. Just pat yourself on the back everytime you get a craving and tell yourself you deserve to be smoke free. Try to keep yourself busy too... and congrats

Take the Alcoholics Anonymous philosphy.
Get through today. Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.
Set realizstic goals, and reward yourself.
If you are still not smoking, go out to dinner. Not necessarly expensive, but you can get something you really like and won't have to clean up. Think of how youlike your steak, or your favorite fish.
It won't costyou a dime. Use the money you would have spent for smokes.
I found 2 to 4th day are the hardest.
PS I quit cold turkey.
Best of luck.

You ought to be congratulated regarding trying to stop smoking cigarettes. It is not easy nevertheless the benefits are very well worth it. Attempt to quit cool turkey. It does not take easiest as you dont have any kind of lingering difficulties once you conquer the actual physical withdrawal signs which completes in about a week. Then it is all in your mind.
