Yep. Some people don't understand that some skintones just aren't meant to tan. What some people also don't consider is this: tanning is more than a darkening of the skin. In those that do tan easily it's one of the skin's natural defense mechanisms against the sun's UVA and UVB rays. What this means is that while those with darker skin and/or those that tan easily do require sunscreen, their skin will receive less damage from the sun than someone that is fair that is in the sun for the same amount of time. If you burn easily your skin lacks this natural defense from the sun. This is bad, because many people with fair skin need to stay in the sun much longer to even begin to tan, and their skin is the type that shouldn't be trying to tan as it requires little or no sunscreen which light skin so desperately needs to protect it. Don't even think that tanning lotions with an SPF are going to be very beneficial either. Most don't have an SPF over 8, and for light skin to be adequately protected you'd need a sunscreen with AT LEAST an SPF of 15, which wouldn't allow a person to tan well. I say steer clear of tanning and tanning beds and the skin damage they can cause to your skin.

Yes I am fair skinned and burn easy also. I used tanning bed for "base" tan and for the first few sessions I was only in booth for 5 minutes and burned! Just be careful and use sunscreen! You will still get tan and will not burn as quick!

I have super fair skin but dont really burn often. I went for prom about 2 years ago and unless u go everyday for months you will not tan at all. I hardly saw a change it was a waste of money. If you want though get a spray tan professionally. They dont last as long but its much more healthier for you.

I have really fair skin [from my Irish heritage!]. I had a problem tanning in the sun....I'd just burn. So, I decided I would go to a tanning bed to try it out.
I took it slow. I started out for 5 minutes for a few days, then i went to seven min....I did that a few days...moved to 9 min... I just kept moving up 2 min after my skin got used to the heat.
BUT say your skin turns real red after 7 min, move back down to five until you feel ready again. don't let yourself get burned...being that you have light skin, you have to be extra careful.

You will burn even faster in the bed...if you still choose to go, start very slowly and skip a day in between sessions. Tanning is dangerous and expensive. There are so many self-tanners on the market! Why not experiment with a few of those?

Tanning beds have 80% more concentrated radiation than the sun. DON'T DO IT ! If you really want that crisp golden tan, splurge on a mystic tan (spray tan) at a salon. Celebs do it all the time and it looks fine. Please don't go to a tanning tomb and fall asleep in one of those tanning coffins. You will get skin cancer and believe me it's NOT worth it.

Yes i think you should try spray tan there are some really good ones that you can use at home like Neutrogena Sunless Tanning Spray Micro Mist Deep here is a link. Or you could just go to a tanning salon and get it done there.
Hope i could help!

I don't but it really depends on the individual. I tan really well on a tanning bed, but I know people who burn, and also some that won't tan. If you won't tan in the sun, odds are that you won't on a tanning bed.

Probably, because a tanning bed is basically the same as being outside so I'd say yes
