The holocaust? Well let's see, Hitler, the leader of the NAZI party believed in having a pure Aryan (sp?) race that would eventually rule all of Europe in Germany's third reich. Aryan was defined as people blond hair and blue eyes. Anyone who didn't fit Hitler's fantasy was sent off to concentration camps. This included (but was not limited to) Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and communists. They were forced to do labor, and the older and younger ones, or those too weak to work were often killed on the spot, then burned. Yush. And I think that's at least five things...

1. Germany had England on the ropes in June 1940 and were prepared to invade England with a cross channel invasion called "Operation Sea Lion" but for some reason was never launched...rumor has it was because of the advice of Hitler's astrologer.
2, "Ghetto" is a hebrew word meaning 'slum' and was were the Germans tried to segregate the Jewish population prior to sending them off to the death camps.
3. One of Germany's biggest mistakes was when it invaded Russia as it started too late and got bogged down in the Russian winter, it was now fighting a war on 2 fronts something it could not sustain for the long term.
4. Japan never lost a battle before Midway and never won one after it....1942.
5. Per Roosevelt and Churchill agreement, a "Germany first"
strategy was implemented in the Allies would concentrate on defeating Germany first and most manpower, supplies, armanents, all went to the European Theatre with the Pacific Theatre pretty much left to the Marines and Navy and a few called up Army National Guard Divisions.

World War 2
Fact 1: A great number of Jews from Europe were gathered and murdered. They call it, "The Final Solution to the Jewish Question."
Fact 2: Adolf Hitler use Anti-Semitism to rise into power.
Fact 3: Jews were use as scapegoats.
Fact 4: Between 1939 to 1945, an estimated of Six Millions Jews were murdered along with hundreds of thousands of Gypsies, Jehovah's Witnesses, disabled and the mentally ill.
Fact 5: Hitler blamed the Jews for all the misfortunes that had befallen Germany.
For me, I find this very disturbing especially when this happened in the 20th century. You still find similar mass murders in countries today. The truth is... it's still happening and my question is WHY? We pride ourselves as civilized.

More countries where involved with the second world war and it was on a much bigger scale so there will be more info about it (also soldiers are still alive from that war). However, I would do a project on WW1 because it is more depressing and sad. Also, others will most likely go for WW2 as it seems like the "easy" option, so be different and your teacher will take notice. WW1.
