Hey <3
I have friends, but I've never hung out with the big group that calls themselves "popular". I've noticed that I am, um, more intelligent than these people and many people have told me that when people are insecure they clump together in a group and call themselves "popular". Do you think I should try to mix with this group, and if so, PLEASE tell me ways to get over my shyness and strike up a conversation with one of them. By the way, these "populars" have been outwardly friendly to me, and I think they like me.
Thanks so much! :)
Thank

well, if they are nice, and you really like them, then just sit at their table at lunch and start a conversation. but don't do it if you're just doing it for the popularity

From experience: no, it's not worth it. Keep your true friends, so-called "popular" people are usually superficial (I know I was when I was "popular" in school...) If you find one or two worthwhile friends out of the "popular" group, then it's fine to hang with them, but don't be one of those lemmings who has to fall off the cliff with the crowd.

Popularity is worth it, if you like the way that the popular people are. Popularity shouldn't keep you from being friends with them. However, if it is the popularity is what you like as opposed to the people, it probably isn't worth it. You would just be conforming yourself to meet their standards to be in their group. But if you like them, and they like you, there is no reason that you shouldn't be friends with them. Just be yourself. And if "yourself" is popular, then for goodness sakes, be popular. :)

Being popular is only what you percieve of it. If eveyone treated them like evryone else then they'd be just that. They do clump together.... and some won't like the people thay hang out with. It's your choice. I can't telly you what friends to make.

um, you dont have to hang out with a lot of people to be popular you just have to be known. people are known for all kinds of things. for example how many serial killers get famous after the get caught, famous is kind of like popular. im not saying go and kill someone just be yourself and hang out with whoever you want to hang out with.

after you graduate, it doesnt matter any more. just make a life for yourself, and and get a good education, go into a good field, like be a dentist they make a truck load of money, and you can get student grants that you dont have to pay back.

popularity isn't everything people think it is. you shouldn't risk friendships with best friends for the so called "popular" people.
