This is kind of uncomfortable, but I need to know. I've been menstruating for about 5 to 7 days, and last night a condom broke en flagrante delecto. I continued to get my period this morning, but I'm freaked...should I go ahead and get the morning-after pill even though I was on my period? I'm not on the pill or anything...please advise!

never hurts to be safe
Probably not. Unless you have a relatively short cycle and actually ovulate before AF is over or shortly thereafter, you can't get pregnant on your period. I wouldn't worry about it, If you've been on pill then your cycle is probably normal and you won't ovulate until about 14 days after your last period started.

Although it's not likely that you were ovulating at the time that the condom broke, it's never bad to be safe instead of sorry. Don't fret over it, but if taking the morning after pill will give you some peace of mind then go for it. It won't hurt anything.

I would take it to be safe. You can never be too careful.

But if you continued to menstruate you should be pretty safe as the egg didn't get fertilized.

I would invest in the pill to avoid any accidents. It's easy to just quit if you want children then.

Even though chances are slim that you'll get pregnant, if a baby is out of the question right now, you should probably get it. Why take the chance. And if you don't know the person, spring for an STD test too.
