My family is the same size, and we visist MB a couple times a year. We like to stay on the North end of Ocean Blvd around 6th ave and 25th ave North, because it is close to all of the shops. But for kid friendly, you could stay anywhere on ocean blvd. There are many attractions for kids, it just depends on the ages. I would suggest visting the Family Kingdom, on the south end. Also, there are many putt putt golf. My kids love going to Alligator Adventure, it is a bit pricey, in my opinion, but there is so much to see and kids really enjoy it. Good luck and have a good time.

Here are some sites to help you decide.
Replies from other people:

The bad thing about Sea Mist Resorts is that the property is starting to become run down, but the good thing is when we stayed there they had a small water park, game room, and putt putt on site. I know there is a certain package that can also get you into family kingdom and there water park for free.

My vote is for the Breakers. But you have to stay in the Paradise Towers, make sure you request this building when reserving. This is the better out of the 4 buildings that they have. The water area is good enough for my 6 year old and (2) 1-year olds. The older kids will enjoy it as well.
This area is wonderful. It isn't right next to the Pavilion area, you could walk down there if it isn't too hot, we did, but we enjoyed the restaurants that are near by. The quick 5 minute drive up to Broadway at the Beach with all its things to do and see.
The pools are clean. We saw them cleaning it every morning around 5:00 am. They have nice little snack shops at the Hotel for a quick snack if you don't bring your own. The beach here is perfectly fine. There is an ice cream shop across the street. A pizza place inside of that. So many options. The parking garage is across the street, but we always found parking spaces and I fit the MINIVAN into every space I found. They had smaller spaces that were "Specifically" for compact cars. Papa's restaurant across the street was good for dinner. Bummz next door always had live music and I hear their food is good as well.
As the other post stated, the Sea Mist is getting to be a little run down. You never know what your going to get when you get into your room. You could get a clean one or a nasty one. Their water park was nice but I would much rather prefer a cleaner room and the kids still enjoyed the water area of the Breakers Paradise Resort.
From what I read, the Coral Beach Resort is nice. But I haven't stayed there. Let me know if this helps! If you have questions, please ask away.

And another:
I would choose Coral Beach or Breakers over Sea Mist. I think there are some issues about certain building within the Breakers so read some of the things in this forum. Overall, either choice should be good.
All hotels have some negative reviews but if you see a recurring theme about cleanliness or safety that's when a red flag should go up. Sometimes the negatives are just nit picky things written by those who are never satisfied. Look for the deal breakers.

IDK, just up the road from me but only go there for vacations ! I have bad memories of Myrtle Beach, we went there when I was a little boy and my step-father was hitting my mother and cursing her out in front of everybody, and she was crying. So uummmm..................... Yeah its very family oriented !
