If you want them to sit you say "sit" and push there butt down, and if you want them to stay say "stay" and If he dosen't stay you hold them under the jaw and do the same. You just push a little tiny bit under there jaw... Not to hard.. Very Light.

When I taught my Great Dane to sit, lay, and stay, I taught him with his own dog food! lol! I would hold it in my hand, and make him sit, and then if he did so I would give him the kibble, and praise him of course. Be patient, and make your voice kind, but stern.

Always with affection. Never hit or slap. Constant repetition, and love and affection with praise when you see they are trying.
