There not in tubes anymore?! You're kidding me!
No doubt the nanny state or health & safety intervened!
Like the tube ever did anyone any harm! How the hell are kids going to collect the lids and spell things from the letters.!

I reckon it's something to do with the tubes rolling around too much. Maybe lots of people lost their smarties because they rolled away.
And no, smarties are not square now.

Damn those silly little kids who insisted on pushing out the bottom of the round tubes, giving the tube a good smack between their palms and blinding some innocent passerby with the cap as it took flight..........

They can stack more square cartons on the shelves than round tubes,they probably put less smarties in them as well.

Maybe because the makers wanted to try something new. thats not really an important question..... But smarties do look badd in side the tube they should be boxed.

smarties came in round tubes?!?!?!
In australia they come in a small cardboard box and have done as long as i can remember we get a box like this example from canada

The Smarties I've always gotten are in little plastic candy wrappers--round. When did they change it? That just stinks...
It changes the whole feeling about them... so much for nastalgia...

probably about the same time they removed the blue smarties and replaced them with white :( Oh how I loved the blue ones...
