The hearts greatest wound would have to be unreciprocated love for someone. We all hesitate to put our hearts out there to anyone parents, spouses, friends, siblings, kids, future mates, our date for the evening, our childhood heroes, our gods, even our pets, whoever, for the pure fact that there is a tremendous fear that our true deepest feelings, aspirations and love will fall unanswered or unacknowledged by those that we express it too. So we do not take the risk we let it out little by little instead, that way we can never get the major hurt! Some people never let it out. I remember a poem I read "Love isn't love till you give it away" that is the wound, that many will never love for fear of not being loved back, thus they never love.

To me the hearts greatest wound would be death of a child, but this is coming from a woman with 8 children.

I have lost my husband recently and it is a great wound, but I don't believe I could withstand the pain of losing one of my children.
