Since loading BT total broadband my system runs a check whenever I open a doc (word/exel etc). Looks just like a Norton check but no record of Norton on my system and I run AVG. This has happenend since I loaded the software today. HELP!!!

It is set to do that. Microsoft word even scans email documents before opening them, it just runs it in the background. It is simple, if this is too annoying don't use the software.

Sounds like you are running 2 anti-virus apps, your original AVG and some sort of protection from BT. Using 2 A-Vs at the same time is a huge mistake. They will conflict and leave you with little protection.

Good. All files should be virus checked on access if you are using Microsoft Windows. You can't risk using Windows without such drastic "protection".
