No point for anyone else to answer this someone already hit it dead on.... the only one who realized that the question was in the Music category and was based off a song....
It wasn't really a question, I know, Just wanted to see how people would respond to it.

I think Three Dog Night doesn't have the right answer, and 3 isn't correct either. If there are three, there are really two plus one, and there you go, one is the lonely one. Still just one.
I don't think there is any number lonelier than one.
"One" can even be lonely in a crowd.
