vicodin is your best bet, take it as you are eating, it makes me jittery too, but as long as i put something in my stomach with it, it works great..........hint: dont have caffiene or sugar while you are taking it, it will make you more jittery

I can't help you with medications, other than herbs like parsley, celery seed & root, cornsilk, oatstraw, dandelion (leaf & root) and burdock. Make a good strong tea and drink copious amounts.
I CAN help you with some advice for keeping them from returning.
A diet consisting of plant based whole foods will ensure great health across all vital body functions. limit (or better) eliminate processed foods, like bread, refined cereals, & instead choose whole grains, like rice(brown), oats, beans & legumes. Eat lots of fruits & veggies, and limit or eliminate animal fat & protein (no, I'm not kidding, you won't need it if you are getting a variety of natural foods. Ounce per ounce, plants have way higher protein content - and higher quality for that matter.)
some good reading material on the subject,
The China Study.

The Cranberry juice and cranberry pills will help you pass them sooner but as far as the pain goes heating pads have always worked good for me that and a hot bath with epsom salt.

here's what i did when i had kidney stones , it really helped.
get the juice of a lemon , the juice of a lime and a teaspoon of cream of tartar. mix it up and drink it once a week, it breaks up the stone and no more pain.

percocet. not as strong, but has less side effects.
torodol is a little stronger, but didn't work on me.
Also, I don't know if it is available for prescriptions, but dilotted (sp?) is superb for that kind of pain. Had it at the E.R. , wow!.
