Okay.....My whole family is very homophobic, But I support gay and lesbian rights and realtionships. I stand up for my beliefs around my family and I am beggining to think that they are very upset with me about my views. Stand up for my beliefs, or stay close to my family?? I think I have already sort of made the decision to stand up for what I believe, but I just need some advice. HELP.

Whether your family agrees with you or not, they should still be proud of you that you know your own mind and you have principles that you are prepared to stand by.

If their desire to control you is greater than their respect for you, then a bit of distance might be healthy for you. Just remember: We may love our families, but we don't always like them.

Stand up for your beliefs. It is not wrong to support Human Rights and Love.

don't give up your beliefs. if you are passionate about it, and you know you are doing the right thing, i wouldn't worry about it. family is a make up of 'individuals'. not a bunch of the same folk. so i don't think you are doing anything wrong by believing the way you do...just maybe for the sake of keeping the peace, why not avoid the topic as much as possible?

Stand up for what you believe in. Don't let anyone change your beliefs as they are an important part of who you are.
