I need a safe, cheap place to stay where I will meet others like myself in Vancouver BC. I am a female travelling alone for the first time.

You can try the YWCA, it is pretty new, and cost a bit more.

You could try the West Point Grey Hostel. That one is right on the beach. I think the YWCA has a hostel downtown as well. Check both of them out on the internet. Good Luck with your travels in Vancouver.

The youth hostel in West Vancouver where I stayed is safe. It's not in the downtown area but only open in the summer.
