Hi People..

I aml ucky enough to be getting married this summer. We have spent many years on KohPhangan in Thailand on holiday and teaching and as much as we love it and the rest of Thailand we want to go elsewhere. We now live in London.

We have visited Barbados and loved the spirit of the Carribean.

We have thought about Jamaica. I know its very cliche but it does seem beautiful and we have found a private villa to rent on the water in Port Antonio. Seems like we can dissapear for a few weeks.

Having never been there I throw the quest-ion to you guiys to let me know your advice if you have been on honeymoon or just holidaying.

Thanks in advance..

I know you'll hear from time to time that Jamaica has nothing but crime and violence, and i am not gonna be bias and come on here and behave as though it is crime free. I mean of course we have crime and negativity here........but its not as others may make it seem.
You will have to take the regular precautions that you take in your home country or wherever you may go. But Jamaicans are generally welcoming, especially in Port Antonio, the locals there may treat you better than they do other locaks like me!!!, they are more hospitable.
Jamaica is beautiful, it may have traces of negativity here and there but it is a wonderful island nonetheless, but where doesnt? Jamaica is wonderful with warm people, diverse cultures, cuisine. and entertainment.
I really hope you enjoy your stay in Port Antonio, the beautiful capital of Portland: was there for a school function just last week.

Enjoy

I prefer Negril over Ocho Rios or Mobay. For a honeymoon I would recommend you stay at an adults only resort. Resorts vary from lower end like Club Ambiance ( I stayed there in December and had a good time) and it was very reasonably priced. Hedonism is my favorite. It needs some updates and remodel but it's a 24 hour party. If you want the high end, it's probably Couples or Sandals. In the past I have stayed at Riu Palace. Food there is incredible. But, you will have kids running around, a bit of an older crowd. Have fun!

Just go and have fun. don't listen people cock and bull stories, they need to go on holidays and free their mind, Jamaica can't be worse than any other country.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon there. I would suggest staying on property, if you go.

Or take a safe domestic vacation in Florida or SC
