At six months she is probably starting to get really hungry and ready to be started on not only cereal but baby food. Feed her she is hungry. If she is feeling full after the cereal then don't force her to take formula. Just go with your instincts and give her what she wants. If she is fussy then its probably a good indicator that she needs to begin solids. Start her on small portions and she should be more satisfied. Don't worry about formula too much because once they start on solids they will require it less and less. But still you should offer her the regular amount of formula as well as you should start offering her some type of solids. Six months is the age to start food. Listen to your baby. If she is crying a lot then she is hungry and the milk is not enough to sustain her as she is growing. If you just started on cereal then give it to her in the morning and in the night before bed. After about two weeks then start offering some solids little by little. Once she begins to eat some solids at lunch and dinner then only give her cereal once in the morning. Milk should be given between the small meals as well.

Start with 1 oz cereal and after a week if she wants more give her 2 oz. Yes still give her formula. She will tell you when she is full. My doctor told me to start with the Rice Cereal 1st. Its easier for your little baby's tummy to digest, The baby has to get used to eating solids, so I would recommend trying the Rice cereal 1st.
