All snakes' embryos spend some part of their gestation in an egg-like structure, but not all snakes actually "lay" these eggs. As other answerers have mentioned, some snakes bear live young; in these instances, the "eggs" are absorbed by the mother's body at some point before birth.

No, soem give birth to live young. The ones that are live birth are still in a shell or an egg but it hatches inside of the mother. I learned this from "Zoobooks" from when I was 6 or 7.

Not all snakes lay eggs. Anacondas, Boas (Boa Constrictor family), Rattlesnakes, Copperheads, Cottonmouth ("water moccasin"), Water snakes and Garter snakes ( probably more, just can't think of them at the moment) ALL have live young.

Most are ovoviviparous which means they lay eggs, others are oviviparous which means that they have soft eggs caseings (no shell) inside them but the animal comes out live and moveing, (all boas are ovoviviparous) animals that don't lay eggs (live most mammals are viviparous

No, there are many species that give birth to live young. They were eggs inside the mother, but are born live almost like mammals. Kind of cool to see.

No, some snakes will give birth to live baby snakes. I forget the exact species, i think cottonmouths do.
