i'm 35 weeks pregnant with my first child and my dr has been watching me the last couple of weeks for signs of preeclampsia. The last 2 days my left foot has been really swollen and very painful to walk on. I go back to the dr in the morning but any suggestions of how to get some relief before then? I've tried laying on my left side and keeping my feet propped up and so far neither of those has helped....

Hi

I had that problem the last 3 months of pregnancy. I had to put my fee up constantly but it never went away until after birth. I had it in both feet, and i looked like an elephant.

You just have to try keep off them, but they may not disappear until after birth.

I odn't think your doc can prescribe anything. If you have High Blood Pressure along with this, then you may be admitted to hospital for the last few weeks.

Good luck

Carla

I am 29.5 weeks pregnant and i have that same problem. my feet get so swollen i cant walk sometimes. it was even times i would propped them up and it still didnt work. So what I do know is cut down on saltie food. drink more water and i went to walgreens and brought this massage thing (i dont really know the name of it) massage my feet in a circial motion everynight. put a pillow at the bottom of the bed and lay my feet on the pillow and lie on my right side it really helps me. OR sometimes i take a warm bath to soak my feet and when i go to be propped my feet up

This happened to me during my 3rd pregnancy, but with my right leg and foot. You will probably be checked for bloodclots just to be sure. In my case it turned out that the way the baby was laying just put more pressure on my right side, causing slow return. Drink plenty of water and keep doing what you are doing. Your doc will take a look and let you know!

Just keep it propped and drink water. I've heard studies that show it doesnt matter what side you lie on just as long as you dont lie on your back. Try laying on your right side and putting pillows between your legs until your swollen ankle is above you heart... and sip on water and relax and try not to stress. Everything will be okay. Good Luck at your doctors appointment.

Keep your feet leveled up, watch your salt intake. I swelled up so bad I had to wear my husband sandels to the hospital. Try even a cold shower, without knowing the weather where you if it is warm that doesn't help and stay off your feet.
