Powdered spirulina algae, baby brine shrimp. You can get a brine shrimp hatchery at most pet stores for fairly cheap. The crushed flake food will work as well.

When I first got my goldfish, I started them on what I believe is called TetraFin. (Don't have the container in front of me, sorry.) If that's not the correct name, it's made by the same company and the name will be very similar to that. Both my fish are currently happy, healthy, and very bright in color - and totally spoiled. If I don't feed them at the right time at night, they let me know it!

I'd suggest TetraFin - which is a kind of flake food very rich in vitamins, etc. - or ask at your local pet store.
