I am all for gays and lesbians being coupled legally. The use of the word "Married" is the whole crux of the debate. The religious crocs believe the word "Married" is a sacred word used for a union of a man and woman under the Almighty. So be it. So let's get same sex unions recognised as a civil union, same as a de facto relationship. A de facto relationship is recognised world wide in most countries as a legally binding relationship. By using "De facto" or "Civil Union" will overcome the many problems with religious cranks who believe in the sanctaty of the word "Marriage". Let them have their word, what is a word anyway as long as the meaning is the same.

I all for this as im a lesbain too. Even if i wasn't i would still agree. We are all humans and all have feelings and should all be treated the same. Equal rights. If two people love eachother enough that they want to spend the rest of their lives together why shouldn't they be allowed to marry someone of the smae sex. With getting married this also allows them the same rights as a straight married couple. Before it was made legal (here in england) if there was two men or women who had been living together and together for many many years they STILL couldn't use their partner as their next of kin. If one was ill in hospital their partner wasn't allowed to see them as they weren't classed as their immediate family. This was all wrong. Im so glad now that over here its legal.

I also believe that gays and lesbians should have the right to marriage. Why do people think they should have the power to say who others can and can't marry? I personally think that it's just stupid that not everyone is treated equally. EVERYONE should have the same rights.

I am. It is a person's human right to marry whom they want. Their intended spouses gender does not factor into that. It's a simple matter of human rights.
