Get a big rat trap and sit it behind your stove? or under your sink....they usually find a way in by the pipes coming into your home....block off those entrances with cement or a piece of coffee can tin nailed down...or call an exterminator!
ps if you saw one rat? you have dozens ....they live in families just like you and I.....if you are renting you call the landlord or custodian immediately....they are not safe around small children and you don't want them in your bed at night.....do something NOW!
