What is it like to live in a country that has mandatory military participation?

I'm not trying to say there's gonna be a draft or anything along those lines at all. I am just curious as to how it affects the young people who know what's gonna happen when they get out of school.

Having lived in Spain, albeit not subjected to it, and worked with guys who had to participate, they didn't seem to mind... just took it all in stride.

I was deployed to South Korea a few times. I do know when South Korean males turn 18 years of age they will be conscripted for 2 years minimum military service. hope this helps
