The first one doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't think either "a" or "b" is an antonym to both words. To temper steel is to harden it, so that is a synonym, not an antonym. Someone who is servile is NOT aggressive or dominant, so "b" works as an antonym for that.
This one is false since a diffident parent lacks confidence, but a peremptory manner exudes confidence.
a. judicious (meaning wise) Wise parents would not beat their kids with blunt instruments unless they wanted to be up on abuse (or murder) charges.
