To install the X11 software, take the following steps:

1. Locate your OS 10.4 installation DVD #1.

2. Insert the DVD into your drive and wait for it to load.

3. Once the Finder window appears with the contents of the CD, scroll down and look for the "Optional Installs" installer package and run it.

4. Click Continue.

5. Read the License Agreement, then click Continue.

6. Click Agree.

7. Select the target drive for the install and click Continue.

8. Expand "Applications". Locate X11 and check the box. Click Upgrade.

9. Enter your password.

The installation will commence. Once finished, click close. You can now find X11 in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder.
