If she has confided in you, it seems like she may want to stop. Cutting is common in teens. It could be signs of problems at home. See if you can find out by talking to her. If she wants to stop see if you can get that info from her. Let her know that you are there for her, that you care about her, and that you will help her if she is willing to get help. You may need to get her to some counseling asap because you may not know how severe her cutting is. I wish you good luck. Hope she seeks the help she needs. Some cutters can stop by themselves, but others need professional help depending on how long they have been doing it and how bad the problems are.

If by cutting you means self mutilation.... just remember she is doing it as a defense mechanism. It is just her way of coping with whatever probelms she is going through. Talk to her about her problems. Let her know that you can't possibly understand how she feels but you can try and you are always there for her. And encourage her to see a counsellour. If she doesn't want to than you have and even better reason to encourage her to speak to you.... just don't push her if she doesn't want to. Go do thigns with her that she finds fun. If she doens't find anything fun then do things with her that she used to find fun. And let her know you are concerned for her. Most self-harmers stop in time. You just need to show her that there are less harmful methods to feel better about life.

ive had the same problem w/ some of my friends, i told them that hurting themselves isnt going to get them any where. i also asked them how they wud feel knowing that their kids cut themselves and that in a way they are being selfish because by them hurting themselves they are hurting their friends around them, beacuse we care a/b them and its tearing us apart knowing nothing we say or do will get them to stop. try threating not to speak to them or better yet, tell her to try different methods like running/excersizing or taking a knife outside and stabing the ground. if shes willing try counsling or she can talk to u or write how she feels in a diary. im sorry this iz happening but best of luck!

All you can really do is be there for her and i hope her parents know cause if she is underage then they can make her get help, if she doesnt get help it will get worse and how would you feel if she cuts too deep one day and no one is around to help her, and you knew this and didnt tell her parents. trust me if she gets mad cause you told she will thank you when she is better.........good luck

you do need to tell her parents cutters cut because they don't get attention or affection frome the ones there close to just let her/him know your there for him/her.they also have a very low sel-esteem it's hard for them to get back on there feet when they fall down.

First, by "cuts", you mean self-mutilation? If so, its something her parents need to know about. This form of self-abuse can lead to other abusing acts, and it is important to get help immediately. THAT is how you can help her.
