Coragryph, you've got to be kidding.

At a time when the Jews were in exile, many fled to Persia and were welcomed there. Some even stayed until such time as they could return to Israel.

And Coragryph, I guess the divided kingdoms of Israel and Judah never existed.. hundreds of years before Mohammed...

Persia was originally the area that is now modern Iran. It did eventually hold an empire covering most of the Middle East.

Isreal was founded in the 1940s. About 2500 years after the Persian empire depicted on your map.
