Since I was able to pick out my own clothes I've worn black. I'm 24, married, mother or three. . . I just like the way I feel in that color. I'm not a witch, a freak, or gothic. I just don't feel comfortable in color. It makes me feel odd. Does this make me weird? Many people give me a hard time about it. But it's just who I am. Does this make sense to anyone?

I dress very stylish, not grundy what-so-ever. Most of the clothes I wear I have made myself, based on what's in style that season. My hair is always nicely tamed and make-up is worn very light and natural.

When I was in college (in my late teens and early 20's) I wore black and white exclusively. (This was 15 years ago) and no one thought twice about it. I still wear mostly black clothes, with a few colorful shirts here and there, but I too feel better in dark clothes, and I'm certainly not goth or emo (as my teenager likes to call it.
I think today's society wants to label everything and that is sad.
Dress as you wish, life is to short to be bothered by silly labels and names

Because people are tasteless and stupid. There's nothing wrong with wearing black, but it's a good idea to mix it up with lighter accessories. White and red accessories always look good with black, and as long as you wear skirts and sandals once in a while no one will think you're gothic for long. They'll think you're classy. Take a lesson from Chanel. And good luck with the stereotype.
If it makes you feel better, It's the same with having black hair. I wore all pink and white one day when I used to have black hair, and a kid i didn't even know called me a goth. Now that I'm blonde people think I'm a snob. *sigh* silly silly people.

This is just one of the many things you will have to ignore in life in order to be yourself and be happy. It definitely does not make you weird.
Use this as an opportunity to practice the art of being yourself against adversity. Then when the bigger challenges come along, you'll be well prepared to remain balanced and centered.

when people look at you in black you probably look depressing. You honestly like black rather than other colors like orange or pink or purple? not even red. add some color to your wardrobe, it will make you appear happier and will rub off on your emotions too. Black is just dark and depressing to wear all the time. maybe get some bright colored shoes or jewelery. mix it up, don't be so predictable.

no not at all. i wear black CONSTANTLY. granted, i do wear other colors all the time, black is def my favorite. but its the WAY you wear it that makes people talk. if its all grudgy and old and dirty looking, people are going to talk. now if you wear something black but stylish, like some black pants that fit well and a black shirt that fits cute, then there will be no reason to talk bc its cute. hope i helped!

because americans as a culture are accustomed to generalizing & stereotyping other people based on their appearances!!! i have this problem too...i wear rock/punk type clothing, have pink hair in the front, many piercings & a tattoo, and i am constantly labeled as "goth", "punk", "emo", whatever...i don`t really care, i think it`s funny...people should be free to express themselves however they want, as long as they are not hurting other people...just because others want to remain narrow-minded in their opinions, that`s their problem..."u laugh because i`m different; i laugh because you`re all the same" is one of my favorite sayings!!!

Its a sterotype, dont worry about it. If thats who u r than just be happy with yourself. No your not wierd but the more confident u r with yourself the less people will notice.
