I was wondering why every time i hook my ipod nano up to the computer why does it keep saying ipod not connected when I go to edit and then prefrences. And it does not even automatically pop up and start downloading the songs either.

I have had similar problems. Try this. First, reformat your iPod. Then reinstall all of the songs. Then, when you are done transferring songs, use the "Eject iPod" function, instead of just unplugging it. Also, never turn on your computer, and return from standby or hibernation with your iPod connected.

maybe you need to take it back and get a new one. If you bought it off the streets then ha ha thats what you get.
