Just curious if it's possible to get a passport quickly in order to travel within the week, and not have to wait for a month.

Unfortunately, the minimum time is about 3 to 4 weeks. Due to the increase in the need for passports for travel to places where passports were unnecessary, the wait for passports has doubled. In order to get it in three weeks, you would have to submit a rush order.

Visit a passport center to submit a rush order.

From what I have read, the normal 4-6 week route of getting a passport is now taking like 10 weeks to process. The expedited route, which costs more and used to take 2 weeks is taking 4-6 weeks ( still at the charge rate of the expedited passport) and if you go into a passport office you can "maybe" get it expedited but there are no guarantees. I also heard that the lines in these offices are multiple hours long full of people that didn't know they needed one so soon. If you are traveling within a week, I certainly would head to the passport office and see what can be done. I think that they are short of help and overrun with requests due to spring break season

Right now the passport agencies are expecting delays of about 3 months. You will probably have to have it expedited
and even then no guarantee it will arrive within the week.

No worries... But you will pay a high premium.
